Welcome new students!

The Slapping Studs were present at the opening of the Kick-in this week and we'll also be present during the activitymarket of the Saxion's HOI. During the next week, I'm sure you will get to know a lot of fellow students and will party a lot! Once the fun has settled down and you start to study, you might be thinking of extra-curricular activities such as joining a student organisation or maybe a sport! If you are interested in playing hockey, this is definitely the place for you. The Slapping Studs is a student club that has 2 teams that play competitively and for the rookie team we try to organize rookie matches during the season. We train two times a week on Monday and Wednesday (more info can be found at Training).

The new students that join us are the rookies, some of them can skate and some can't. It's not a problem if you can't skate, we'll offer you to learn the basics and after that we'll teach you how to play hockey! If you already have experience in playing hockey, you will be allowed to train with the teams that play in the competition. The first team competes in the Dutch Student Division and the second team in the recreational division.

Of course we don't focus on just hockey, we are a student club after all! On the occasion we plan an activity to go out and have some drinks (beer or sodas, whichever you prefer). After training some of us will hang out in the canteen of the rink and just have a good time. During the season there will also be the NSK (Dutch Student Championship and we also organize a night tournament! There's also a sailing weekend and a BBQ at the end of the year! Perhaps there will be even more activities, who knows!

The rink in Enschede will officially open at the end of September, so there is plenty of time to think it over if you want to try a bit of hockey. The first two monday practices of the season will be open to new students to come and experience the feeling of hockey and will cost nothing. The gear and skates will be provided and there are no further obligations, The exact dates and times will be posted on the website and if you are interested, send us an e-mail. You can also contact us with any questions that you may have regarding the club or hockey.

Once again, welcome to Enschede and please enjoy the introduction weeks. We might even see some of you at start of October!
